The Approach - Self Protection Method là tên của trường phái huấn luyện do võ sư Eddie Quinn sáng lập, dựa trên nền tảng 25 năm nghiên cứu và tập luyện Malaysia, Indonesia Silat, Muay Thai và một số môn võ Đông Nam Á khác.

Võ sư Matt Hudd là một người đam mê võ thuật và tập luyện võ thuật trên 30 năm và được huấn luyện bởi võ sư Geoff Thompson học trò của Eddie Quinn. Trong khuôn khổ bộ 2 DVD này võ sư Matt Hudd sẽ truyền đạt đến chúng ta những tinh tuý của hệ thống chiến đấu dựa trên nền tảng của Pencak Silat và Muay Thai này. Matt Hudd has been studying Martial arts and self-defence for over 30 years.  In this time he has travelled to many seminars and courses on self-defence, with some great martial artists and unfortunately some not so great.  In the last 10 years there has been a lot of controversial on what works and what does not work in today’s society.  This is the reason why Matt has tracked down the best instructors in the world. Matt has been training with the legendary Geoff Thompson for two years now. Geoff was ranked by Black belt magazine as one of top five self defence experts in the world.  

Another instructor of Matt’s is the Founder of The Approach self-Protection method, Eddie Quinn. Eddie has been studying Malaysian and Indonesian Silat, Muay Thai and other south eastern Asian martial arts for over 25 years.  Eddie at the age of 18 was left for dead by a stabbing which punctured his heart, liver, gall bladder, and lungs. Vowing never to let this happen to him again took up Martial arts and studied intensively, often training in Thailand under great masters.  From his years of training Eddie has put together a complete self-protection method, and because of its simplicity to learn and its effectiveness it is taking Eddie around the globe teaching instructor courses and seminars.

Our Self-Protection Programme at Dragon Fitness Academy teaches the methods of Eddie Quinn’s APPROACH because of its effectiveness and easiness to learn.  At the same time Matt will be bringing in other ideas and concepts he has gained while training with Geoff Thompson.

As well as learning the techniques to defend yourself, a big part and probably the most useful skills you will learn are:

•Awareness, Avoidance and Escape Strategies

•Conflict and Confrontation management skills

•Understanding and Control Fear from high-stress situations

•Personal space management using unique “Fence” concept

What is The Approach?

The Approach is derived from  Pencak Silat Fitrah, with influences of Thai, Filipino and Indonesian martial arts all of which it’s founder  Eddie Quinn has studied for many years.  what it provides is a very practical, easy to learn and efficient way of defending oneself and your loved ones.

How fit do I need to be?

The Approach can be learnt by anyone irrespective to age, fitness or ability.

Do I need to of studied martial arts before?

What makes The Approach such a good self protection method?

No not at all. For many people they have not got enough time to go through the process of spending years learning a martial art,is the elements I feel are most easy to learn, for people who want an APPROACH to self defence without having to learn a complete system/ style.

What makes THE APPROACH so appealing is that it is so easy to learn and is friendly to your hands.

The use of elbows, forearms, hammer fists, knees, shins hitting the body all done with forward energy, correct body alignment and body mechanics, with no passive movement makes THE APPOACH a formidable way of fighting.

The APPROACH also works if you are unarmed and attacked by a weapon.

There are only a few stages that make up THE APPROACH, the first and arguably the best is the use of the forearm, you might be wondering if the use of the forearm is to block or attack? The answer is that there is no blocks, no defence, always attack, always in combination, often simultaneous. One of the main principles in Silat Fitrah is there is no passive movement, so your defence is to attack.

What makes the Approach so impressive is the speed at which those with little or no experience can develop hand, eye & foot co-ordination along with the power required to take control of a self-defence situation and totally dominate their attacker.  The Approach is more than just another 'quick fix' self-defence system but a living, breathing martial art in its own right. Whether you are a beginner looking for a martial art to take up or an experienced martial artist look
