Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido is the sword-style practiced in this production. Oe Masamichi Sensei brought together the Hasegawa Eishin Ryu and the Omori Ryu and combined it with the Tanimura-ha into the 43 forms that we now know as Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu. Oe Sensei was of strong character and his methods were greatly influenced by actual combat based on his experiences in one of the last sword based wars in Japan called the 'Hamaguri Gomon no Ikusa' (The Clam Gate War) fought at the very end of the Tokugawa Era between 1865 and 1867 at the Imperial Palace in Kyoto.

This production focuses on the Omori Ryu forms and is aimed at anyone who has an interest in learning the basics of this school. If you are new to the art or are already familiar with the forms but want to further your knowledge, this production will provide a visual record and reminder of the many movements and subtleties that must be initially learned. It will also aid you in answering questions and showing you the 'correct' method of performing the techniques.
